Turkmen-Uzbek business partnership given new impulse

On April 24, a Turkmen-Uzbek business forum was held in Tashkent, timed to coincide with the state visit of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the Republic of Uzbekistan. In the conference hall of the «International Hotel Tashkent», heads and representatives of Branch Ministries and agencies, Chambers of Commerce and Industry, scientific and educational institutions, large private business enterprises of two countries have met. The Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (UIET) and the National Organization of Turkmenistan for Bar Codes delegated their representatives to participate in the business forum.

During the forum, representatives of the State Committee on Investments of the Republic of Uzbekistan, The Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan and Chambers of Commerce and Industry of two countries made a presentation on their activities.

The report of the member of the Board of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the Chairwoman of the National Organization of Turkmenistan for Bar Codes, Aykamar Malikgulyyeva covered in detail the areas of activity and achievements of the UIET for ten years since the foundation of this public organization, as well as priority areas of international cooperation. The information on participation of members of the Union in the implementation of strategic governmental programs and projects, increasing the country's export potential was mentioned.

Interest was expressed in establishing broad partnership contacts with Uzbek entrepreneurs, including in expanding trade and economic contacts, as well as in terms of creating joint ventures and implementing large investment projects.

It was emphasized that systematically organized exhibitions - fairs, conferences, forums, as well as the Business Council established in accordance with the Agreement between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan signed during the current meeting, should become an effective mechanism for diversifying partnerships.

The outcome of the negotiations of the business communities of two countries were contracts and memorandums providing for joint projects worth more than $ 250 million.
